Notes for Frank Fielding MITCHELL
Parents of W.F. Mitchell, Kokomo, Nearing Golden Anniversary - Sept 27th 1930 Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mitchell of Windfall, parents of W.F. Mitchell, vice-president of the Citizens National Bank of Kokomo, will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary on Sunday, September 28, the day following their anniversary, which falls on September 27. The couple have two other children, Mrs. G.W. Spurlin of Gary and Claud Mitchell, residing near Frankfort. There are eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell were united in marriage at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. Sarah Jones, who at that time resided two and one-half miles northeast of Windfall. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Mr. Clark, a Christian minister , and they went to housekeeping on a farm in that community. Mrs. Mitchell, prior to her marriage was Miss Emma Leonard, daughter of Caleb and Parmeliah Leonard, pioneers of Madison Towns hip and they resided on a farm three miles south of Windfall for years. W. I. Leonard residing at Marion is a brother of Mrs. Mitchell and there are three sisters surviving. Mrs. W.M. Burton of Merna, Neb., Mrs. W.H. Holloway residing near Arcadia and Mrs. Jeanette West of Indianapolis. Mr. Mitchell, who has for many years been known as one of the progressive farmers and stock men of Tipton county, was born in Wildcat Township May 13, 1857 on the Howard-Tipton line, three miles north of Windfall. His parents were James H. and Eliza (Plummer) Mitchell, pioneer settlers of that community. He has a brother, Boone Mitchell who resides near Center in Howard County and a sister; Mrs. George Swopes resides at Greentown. Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell are both active members of the Windfall Christian church and have been for years.
Note that his father md. Hannah L. Black in Tipton Co. in 1883.
