Notes for Basil William PRATHER
The Following notes by Gary Benton Prather :
Basil was a soldier in the Revolutionary war. He was born in Maryland and after the War moved West, setting in several states until he finally settled in Utica Township, Indiana near what is now Watson, Indiana. A legend States he witnessed a sea battle and when the ship washed ashore he found gold. Later while in Kentucky , the Prather paid Bill Hatfield $10.00 to dig up gold hidden under an old house across the river in Magnet, Indiana
Prather Chapel (1800) was named after him in Harmony, North Carolina.
