Richard was the heir to most of his father's property and titles. He lived at Nunney Castle located at Nunney, Somerset. (Nunney was acquired from "Lord St. John" - Sir William Paulet) . Richard came into possession of Nunney Castle, the Manors of Nunney, Glaston, Lighe, Trotox hill, Sharpshawe, (villages with all the businesses in the village), all in Somerset and lands from his father in Cryklade, Chelworth, Calcote, also included in these holdings were 40 farms with dwellings (and slaves/or/surfs), 30 farms with out-buildings, and about 4000 acres of meadow and timber lands, a tenement in Oxford, and numerous businesses which included Mills /Wool Processing Centers/Dovecotts. Richard was the major heir of his father, George Prater of Latton, Wilts., England.
