NOTE: From Timothy Blomquist - John J. Rutherford, was awarded two land grants in Brown County, Indiana in 1839. His uncle, William Mitchell (husband of Sarah Rutherford) occupied these two pieces of property in Hamblen Township (northeast Brown County) until the mid 1860's. These properties were: T10, R4, Section 6 , 90.16 acres in East 1/2, Northeast 1/4, - Jan2, 1839 T10, R4, Section 7, 40.00 acres in East 1/2, Northeast 1/4, - Aug30, 1839
M. ( Milton) L. Copeland was appointed ad litem guardian of Charles E., John S., Thomas A. and Divinity Rutherford, minor heirs of John Rutherford on 10 Apr 1873 (Shelby Co., Indiana Guardians Docket 184-73). He settled for Divinity in September 1873 (Probate Order Book 12-97), for Thomas in March 1878 (Probate Order Book 17-10), and Charles & John later (Probate Order Boo k 25-92).
