Notes for William TANDY

About 1759 Wiliam was in Fredericksville Parish Louisa co VA and the next year bought land in Albemarle co where he resided until 1784 (1). He served in the Revolutionary War (7). In 1779 he and his son John took the oath of allegiance to the Commonwealth of Virginia (1) . He apparently purchased land in Kentucky County Virginia in 1780 on 30 May, 1000 acres of land adjacent to Preston's line in zone 6 (5). He was in the 1787 Virginia census, listed in Fayette co Ky (2) and was still there in the 1790 census for Kentucky (3). In 1784 he moved to Kentucky (1). William was on the Fayette county Kentucky Tax Lists 1787-1793 (6) . He obtained 500 acres of land at the waters of the Elkhorn (4). His will was dated 2 May 1792, proved in Fayette co KY March 1794 and in it he mentions his wife Jane, sons John, Achilles, Gabriel, Moses and daughters Sally Bledsoe, Lucy Quarles Tandy, Frances Lipscomb, Milly Chinn and Jane Allen (1).
