Notes for William B TANDY
William was listed in the 1800 census in Gallatin co (2) and also in 1810 (3). In Jan 1802, William was apparently getting ready to travel to Virginia as he was issued three separate Powers of Attorney in Gallatin co KY (10). He was given power of attorney by John Sanders to represent her interests in the estate of her brother Leonard Crutcher of Caroline co VA (10-p16 9), given the power of attorney by his father and full siblings to represent their interests in the estate of his grandfather Henry Martin (10-p170) and given power of attorney by his brother John Tandy on behalf of his wife Sallie Bledsoe as well as her brothers and sisters for their interest in the estate of John Bledsoe of Orange co (10-p171). He appears in the Gallatin co tax lists from 1799-1821 (8). In 1820 he was still in Gallatin co, living near his widowed mother (4). William witnessed the bond signed by John Tandy for the marriage of Polly Tandy and Jacob Shelton (1) in 1810. August 1810, William was appointed overseer of Boleus Road (4). Nov 1811, he was awarded a bounty for having killed a wolf (5). Jan 1817 , he posted bond as a security for Moses Tandy and Roger Tandy, executors of the estate of John Tandy (6). At that time he also signed the administration letters given to Moses and Roger Tandy (7). July 1817, he attended the estate sale of John Tandy (7-p403) Dec 1817, he posted bond as security for Roger Tandy who was guardian of the younger daughters of John Tandy ( 6). July 1826 William and several others made a report to mark the best road between Chadwell's mill to intersect Baker's road at Lewis Easterdays (11). He appeared in Court in Oct 184 3 and testified that he knew Mary Blessing to be the daughter of Medley Shelton and Elizabeth Ward (9). This was in connection to Elizabeth's application for pension as the widow of a Revolutionary War soldier (9).
