Notes for Henry TANDY
Tandy Kinsmen; Tylers Quarterly Vol 14Henry was aged 17 when he witnessed the will of Lawrence Washington in 1677 (1). 15 April he was among those who entered military service from Rappahannock co and served for 10 days (2 ). In a deed in Essex county between his son Henry and Richard Covington, dated 11 Nov 1702 , Henry is described as deceased (3). At this time, his son was living in King and Queen County (3).

Henry Tandy, possibly the son of William Tandy, the immigrant (#2), born circa 1630f Miles Cary, dated 9 June 1667. William died 1677 and according to York co records left sons William who d.s.p. by 1692 (Book 9, p 113, 24 March 1692), John born 1647 (according to his deposition Book 6 p 27) and was dead by 1693 (Land Office, Book 8 p 360); Thomas who married Joan and died by 1693. Joan died 1701 (Bruton Parish Reg). Thomas and Joan seem to have had only two children: Agnes and Anne. The author acknowledges the work of General Allen on William Tandy, says that she could only corroborate this research and that William Tandy appears to have had no grandsons.
A second William Tandy appears in Greer's in 1650, a headright for William Clapham, who later figures as a tithable for Lancaster co. Whether this William is the father of Henry Tandy, is unprove
