Notes for Jane QUARLES

19 Oct 1732, Jane, who was under the age of 16, was deeded a negro slave by her grandmother Margeret Linton (2). In this document her mother refers to Jane as the daughter of Moses Quarles and Margeret's daughter Seth Linton (2). 30 Aug 1764, in a Prince William co deed between Benjamin Grayson and John Tayloe, the tract of land in question was said to have originally been patented by Moses Linton (3). This tract was devised by Moses Linton to his daughter Seth Quarles and after her death descended to her daughter who had intermarried with William Tandy (2). This deed and the will of Margeret Linton demonstrates that Jane Quarles was the daughter of Moses Quarles and Seth Linton and was also the wife of William Tandy. Jane appears on the Fayette County KY Tax lists 1794 (the year William died) - 1796 (1).
